SPACETIDE 2025

7 - 10 July 2025 Tokyo

The European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) will be in Japan from 7 to 11 July 2025 to participate in the SPACETIDE Conference, a major forum for space industry and policy in the Asia-Pacific region. During this mission, ESPI will take part in two SPACETIDE panels, co-organise one foresight workshop, and contribute to a SPACETIDE side event.

  • This panel will explore the policy and technological tools needed to address the growing strategic and operational challenges of space security.

  • This panel will examine how economic and geopolitical disruptions are affecting capital flows and investment strategies in the space sector.

Thursday 10 July, 13:30–16:30– SPACETIDE Side-Event 

  • Workshop: Shifting Centers of Gravity: Politics, Economics and a New Strategic Environment
  • Location: Toranomon Hills, Room 401B
  • This event, co-organised by ESPI and the Bertelsmann Foundation (BFNA), will include a networking lunch and will address the issues of economic security and technological sovereignty, international cooperation as well as the growing confluence of power politics, economics, security and commerce in the space arena.

  • ESPI-IOG-BFNA Space Foresight Workshop “The Ways to the Moon”
  • Location: International House of Japan, Iwasaki Hall
  • This invitation-only workshop applies structured forecasting methods to explore plausible futures for international lunar exploration.
  • ESPI staff will include Hermann Ludwig Moeller (Director of ESPI), Marco Aliberti (Associate Manager and Lead on International Engagement) and Joao Falcao Serra (ESPI Research Fellow)
