Announcing the 1st edition of Space Debate Europe

The transformative value of space for the wider economy, security and society is increasingly recognised across Europe, spurring unprecedented public and private investment and elevating space on policy agendas as across other sectors of industry, well beyond the space domain.

Co-oorganised by ESPI, AEE, ESA and Eurisy, in cooperation with EISC

In response to these developments, the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI), the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), the European Space Agency (ESA) and Eurisy are joining forces to organise the inaugural edition of Space Debate Europe (SDE) in Madrid.

The event will be co-located with the Plenary Session of the European Interparliamentary Space Conference (EISC) under the 2026 Spanish Presidency.

The inaugural Space Debate Europe will take place in Madrid, Spain on 22-23 September 2026.

  • Host Nation Track: with Representatives from the Spanish government, industry, and civil society

  • Strategy Track:  with stakeholders from Europe’s space, technology, and defence industries

  • Society Track: with European civil society representatives and user communities

Space Debate Europe 2026 will take place at the Palacio de Linares, a national monument, located on Madrid’s iconic Plaza de Cibeles.
