As we kick off the final quarter of the year, we are happy share that we have welcomed a host of new faces to our Vienna-based team, which is a direct result of the International Recruitment Campaign we launched earlier this year. The addition of this round of new hires marks another milestone of growth for the ESPI family and to celebrate this, we are commencing a four-part, month-long campaign showcasing each new team member, getting to know them a little better, and asking them what they’re most looking forward to here at ESPI.
Welcome to Part 3!
We’re happy to share four new secondments and hosted staff to our team:
- Elizaveta Shashkova, Research Fellow seconded by CNES.
- Gianluca Parasole, Junior Research Fellow seconded by ASI.
- Michele d’Emilia, Junior Research Fellow seconded by ASI.
- Luca Phileas Vetter, ECSECO ESA Graduate Trainee.
Elizaveta Shashkova holds a master’s degree in Space Engineering from ISAE-SUPAERO and a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Strasbourg. Building on her experience at UNIVERSEH, the European Space University for Earth and Humanity, and in the Spaceship FR team at CNES, she now focuses on education and space exploration topics at ESPI. Very passionate about board games, she terraforms Mars on a regular basis.
Gianluca Parasole completed a master’s course in law at the University of Naples Federico II. After that, with the desire to specialize in the space sector, he followed the post-graduate master’s course in Space Policies and Institutions at SIOI in Rome. Before coming to Vienna he completed a six-month traineeship at the Office for ESA Relations of the Italian Space Agency (ASI).
Michele d’Emilia is from Venice, Italy, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Organisation from Leiden University, as well as an LL.M. in Law and Sustainable Development from the University of Milan. He recently completed an Advanced Course in Space Policy and Institutions in Rome and joined ESPI as a Junior Research Fellow, seconded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). Michele previously worked as a trainee at the European Parliament and as an intern in the Director General’s Cabinet at the European Space Agency, where he gained first-hand experience in Europe’s space governance.
Luca Phileas Vetter holds a master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Vienna and the Vienna School of International Studies, where he focused on international political economy and international economic law. He previously worked at the German Aerospace Centre – PT and the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
