ESPI strengthens its partnership with Space Generation Advisory Council

ESPI is pleased to share the extension of the partnership with the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in the capacity of host institution. This extension reinforces ESPI’s education mandate: to foster and support European educational activities contributing to capacity-building in Europe and beyond.

ESPI has hosted SGAC at their premises in the heart of Vienna since 2006. ESPI and SGAC signed a further Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2023, during ESPI’s 20th anniversary. Here it was agreed that SGAC would move with ESPI to the new premises at Schwarzenbergplatz 16 and allows the two organisations to interface within a cooperative framework. The MoU established a framework for joint, cooperative activities, as well as exchange of experience and information relevant to the areas of activities conducted by both ESPI and SGAC.

SGAC is an international non-governmental, non-profit organisation that represents young professionals and students in the space sector to the United Nations, states, agencies, industry, academia and other space sector organisations. SGAC’s focus is providing pragmatic space policy advice to policy makers based on the interests of its network of university students and young professionals, in the age range of 18-35, interested in space from around the world. This international network is the largest and most diverse of its kind and constantly growing.

At ESPI, we are dedicated to inspiring and supporting young and brilliant minds and empowering the next generation of talent. With the extension of ESPI’s hosting arrangement with SGAC, we are eager to continue nurturing and retaining a talented and skilled workforce, to develop the full benefits of space for all sectors of the wider economy.

H. Ludwig Moeller ESPI Director

SGAC’s global network of students and young professionals plays an important role in shaping the future of the space sector. Our presence in Vienna provides a strong foundation for engaging with the international space community, and we appreciate ESPI’s continued role as our host institution. Having a stable base has supported our growth and reach worldwide. With the extension of this arrangement, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with ESPI on equal footing, while expanding opportunities and impact for our community as we move to our new shared premises.
